Die 9. Staffel der ORF/MR Produktion Schnell ermittelt ist im Kasten!
Ich durfte bei dieser Staffel unter den Augen vom Kameramann Gero Lasnig die B-Kamera schwenken. Für mich war es eine riesige Freude, meine Kenntnisse als Bildgestalter für eine Fernsehproduktion zu nutzen.
For 'Triumph of the Actor', we got to travel to Los Angeles in 2022 for the YUGO BAFTA Student Awards — one of the most moving experiences of my career so far.
Together with director Daniel Holzberg and part of the team, I suddenly found myself on the big stage among international emerging filmmakers, surrounded by the BAFTA logo and sponsors like Jaguar and HP. A short film we'd shot in Vienna on a small budget was suddenly part of one of the most prestigious film awards in the world.
What struck me most was talking with other young filmmakers from all over the world — all sharing the same passion for storytelling, but with completely different perspectives. This trip showed me how far a film can travel if you believe in it.
Even though we didn't end up bringing a trophy home, the invitation itself and the experience on the ground were a milestone that still drives me today.
I thought I'd share my experience editing my latest short documentary, “Christmas in Grenada.” If you've ever wondered how much work really goes into it — buckle up!
22 hours of footage, gathered over a month at sea and spread across two hard drives. The first step was reviewing it all — not just watching, but pulling out the best moments, taking notes, and constantly asking whether it fit the story.
Then came the first assembly — a tight 1 hour 30 minutes. About six months later, with plenty of “letting it sit” and feedback from friends, the fine cut landed at 32 minutes. Picture lock!
Next up is sound design — the on-set audio was just an onboard mic, since there's no room for a sound recordist on a 41-foot boat. Grading comes in autumn, aiming for a small premiere in winter.
I did most of this project alone — an experience I'm glad I had, but would rather not repeat. In my opinion, the most creative part of filmmaking is the ideas that emerge through discourse.
